My Personal Experience: Why It Was Worth It for Me

When I moved here from Maryland in 2022, it was absolutely worth it, without a doubt. I used to get seasonal depression on the east coast, but in San Diego, that has completely disappeared. The nearly perfect weather made it hard to stay indoors. San Diegan's have an active lifestyle and once I started meeting people, I naturally started becoming active and actually ended up completing my first full marathon in 2023! My whole lifestyle has transformed, for the better, and feel very blessed to call San Diego home.

Yes, it’s expensive—but that didn’t stop me. I started by renting a room for $900 a month. Fast forward three years, and now I have my own business and live downtown by the water.

San Diego gave me tons of opportunities, and because people come from so many places, it's easy to meet new friends. The community here is amazing. There was a protest this year—called the “No Kings” protest—that started around 11 a.m. and was wrapped up by 2 p.m., with no violence, looting, or chaos. That spoke volumes to me, about the calibur of people that all call San Diego home.

If you’ve got the drive and work ethic, San Diego is a place where you can live a truly wonderful life.
